Abusive language is everywhere in today's society and no one is exempt from it no matter your social statues or how much you have. For example in last years NBA Playoffs Lebron James, one of the best players in the NBA today, was preparing for his finals series with the Golden State Warriors, during a time when there were a lot of racial tension had been very high, someone spray-painted a racial slur on his home in Los Angeles. It under investigation for awhile and was considered to be a hate crime, Lebron James was quoted with saying that, "No matter how much money you have, no matter how famous you are, no matter how many people admire you, being black in America is tough" (Lebron James, 2017). I believe that James is onto something, we see many examples of abusive language whether it is racism in the Universities or in Politics.
In todays society people of all different types of races and orientations are exposed to abusive language and it is ignored. We see all types of abusive language all over society whether it's in movies, tv, or music especially. We see all these words normalized and we make it okay for words that should be considered fighting words to be used as something that is normalized. I think that is the most interesting part is that the "n word" is normalized because people with high social status make it okay.
