Net neutrality has been a very big subject and has been the subject of much debate. The thing about net neutrality is that it shapes the way the internet works. It is grants us the right to access information on the internet and share information on the internet. It also lets you access websites equally. Without net neutrality internet providers could block websites that they don't like. Even the websites that help groups that are marginalized won't have the websites that support them, they could literally just have restricted access and all the groups that rely on the internet to organize wouldn't be able to. Net neutrality was guaranteed through Title II of the Communications Act.
A lot of phone and cable companies that provide internet are trying to argue against this. Net neutrality helps small business and new business because it gives them a way to be seen through the internet without the threat of having to pay a fee or having to jump through a bunch of hoops in order to get their websites out there. It also helps get access to public information and that is something that is very important. There are already talks about companies that are going to use prioritizing avenues are going to be open that way, which will be in place if the Net Neutrality rules are repealed. I think that it is important that these rules stay in place because it is a level playing field and keeps competition fair even though it doesn't always feel or look that way in the grand scheme of things.
